Culver City appoints H. Yanni Demitri as Director of Public Works

The City of Culver City is pleased to announce the hiring of H. Yanni Demitri as Director of Public Works. Demitri most recently served as a West Hollywood City Engineer. Prior to that, Demitri was a director of public works in Grand Terrace, California, and spent significant time as a civil engineer with the City of Santa Monica and as a traffic engineer with the City of Napa.

Demitri is both a Licensed Civil Engineer and Licensed Traffic Engineer from the State of California. He holds a BS in Civil Engineering from Cal Los Angeles State and an MS in Traffic and Construction Engineering from San Jose State University.

“My family and I love living in Culver City, so I’m incredibly excited to work closely with city staff and the community on the important issues facing the city,” said Demitri.

Demitri is a resident of Culver City. He lives with his wife, a nurse practitioner and children in the Fox Hills neighborhood. In her spare time, Demitri enjoys spending time with her family at the beach, in theme parks, visiting grandparents or traveling. You can also find him with his wife walking to the Westfield Culver City Mall, which they do several times a week.

Demitri will take office on October 18 and replaces outgoing Director of Public Works, Charles Herbertson, who is retiring after 17 years in the City.
