HEC shines the spotlight on BICs in the knowledge economy

Islamabad: The Higher Education Commission (HEC) as part of its Higher Education Development Project in Pakistan (HEDP) organized a one-day training session for all heads of incubation centers in companies (BIC).

The workshop brought together more than 30 BIC managers from all over Pakistan. During the training, the importance of the role of BICs in the knowledge economy was emphasized.

These centers will support startups in entrepreneurial training, legal support, financial education, the provision of business development services, and investment readiness training. In the era of the knowledge economy, universities play a key role in the triple helix that brings together all the key players in a knowledge ecosystem. HEC implements key projects to support universities in their important role as creators of knowledge. Innovator Seed Fund is one such program launched by HEC as part of its flagship project Higher Education Development in Pakistan (HEDP). ISF is a unique national collaborative program in which HEC and its recognized BICs aim to support budding entrepreneurs who need “capacity + capital” support to create fast-growing, sustainable businesses based on innovative ideas.

The ISF program is based on the idea of “Digital Knowledge Park” which aims to digitally connect all the players in the knowledge and innovation ecosystem.
