The city of Aspen promotes two within the organization

Courtney DeVito has been appointed director of the human resources department and Rob Schober has been promoted to director of capital, city of Aspen officials said Thursday.

Schober’s most recent title was Asset Management Project Manager in the Capital Department, and DeVito served as the city’s Acting Director of Human Resources.

Schober’s salary is $ 124,000 and DeVito earns $ 126,000 per year.

DeVito has over 17 years of experience in human resources, nine of which with the city.

She started within the organization as a risk analyst in 2012 and was deputy director and interim director of the department.

She previously worked at Aspen Skiing Co. as a Payroll and Benefits Specialist and at Arapahoe Basin Ski Area as a Human Resources Manager.

“I am honored to continue to serve Aspen and to collaborate with other city departments to embed our values into our work,” DeVito said in a press release. “I look forward to developing our relationships with community peers to make a difference by supporting our local workforce and helping staff evolve in their roles.

DeVito received his BA in English Literature from Saint Michael’s College in Vermont.

Additionally, she holds certifications in Human Resources Management, is a Certified Mediator and is currently studying for the Professional Human Resources Examination (PHR).

She moved to Colorado in 2002 for the ski culture, as she has been anchored in the ski community her entire life.

Schober joined the city in 2018 as a project manager and previously held various general contractor positions in the private sector.

Since moving into public service, he has enjoyed being a liaison and representing community interests in city assets, according to city officials.

“I’ve never worked in a place where you get so much public engagement,” Schober said in a prepared statement. “It’s nice to be able to make project decisions based on the impact of a decision on our community and to represent Aspen’s interests rather than just looking at the results. “

Schober holds a BS in Integrated Science and Technology from James Madison University and an MS in Civil Engineering from Clemson University in South Carolina.

During his tenure with the city, Schober managed several large-scale projects such as the new city offices, the affordable housing development of Phase 3 of Burlingame Ranch, and the exterior restoration of the Wheeler Opera House.

He and his wife moved to the Roaring Fork Valley more than five years ago.
