A special blessing ceremony was recently held for the community at St. John’s University School of Education as faculty gathered in person on the Queens, NY campus, for the first time since the pandemic of COVID-19 struck over 18 months ago.
âDespite the pandemic, the School of Education remains committed to our responsibility to reignite and reinvent innovation in education,â said Aliya E. Holmes, Ph.D., Acting Dean, shortly before the start. of the ceremony, which was held in September. 13 outside the entrance to Sullivan Hall.
âWe ask for God’s blessing on all students, teachers, administrators and staff as we begin a new school year. “
Education professors completed their first face-to-face meeting with faculty just prior to the event. They seemed eager to enjoy some frozen treats and continue mingling on a blustery summer afternoon after receiving a blessing from Reverend Bernard M. Tracey, CM ’70C, Executive Vice President of Mission.
âGod of love, give every teacher the wisdom and foresight to recognize the needs and potential of every student and open up a world of possibilities for them,â Fr. Tracey said in prayer.
In his introductory remarks, Fr. Tracey congratulated the faculty. âYour efforts have a tremendous ripple effect on thousands and thousands of people because of the education you provide to the students of the School of Education. I want to thank you for that and tell you how much you are appreciated.
