Project engineer x2 job with Havant Borough Council


We are looking for experienced Civil Engineers to join our renowned Design and Implementation team. Working for a variety of public sector clients across Hampshire, we carry out a wide range of active travel programs, from identifying opportunities to feasibility, consultation, design and implementation stages. We also serve as an internal engineering resource for the Havant and East Hampshire councils, performing various municipal engineering activities such as improvements to council-owned assets which may include work items on drainage and construction projects. ‘open spaces. We play an active role in contributing to council policy on walking, cycling and public transport, working with Hampshire County Council on projects across Hampshire.

You will be assigned to your own specific engineering projects to manage and lead these projects throughout their lifecycle. You will be able to carry out effective preparation, management and presentation of feasibility studies and the initial design of highway improvement plans, including, where applicable, performance management of consultants employed to carry out these works. The role will include the preparation of plans, financing offers, specifications, bills of quantities and contract documents. You will launch calls for tenders for the realization of your arrangements on behalf of internal or external customers and supervise the work on site.

You will be proficient in using computer aided design (CAD) to produce engineering drawings. Training will be given in accordance with our corporate CAD standards.

You will be a member of the Institution of Civil Engineers (ICE), Chartered Institution of Highways & Transportation (CIHT) or similar, with a minimum of 5 years of experience working in a civil engineering design office environment. As you will need to travel throughout Hampshire to undertake site visits and meet clients, a full driver’s license is required. Training will be provided to help you fulfill your role, including Streetworks accreditation and the various IT systems we use.
