Megachurch pastor and former Fresno seminary teacher accused of sexual misconduct – GV Wire

A pastor from one of Canada’s largest churches has been charged with sexual misconduct and placed on leave while the church undertakes an external investigation.

Bruxy Cavey, who turned The Meeting House into a mega-church with some 5,000 people attending 19 campuses in the greater Toronto area, has been accused of sexual misconduct by a woman who reported it to the board of directors from the church last week.

Cavey taught at Fresno Pacific University Biblical Seminary as a lecturer for approximately 2 years before being dismissed as part of a program redesign in August 2018.

A press release from the FPU at the time said the sacking of Cavey and two other pastors was the result of concerns about the seminary leadership and “certain guest speaker teaching positions.”

Meeting House board chair Maggie John released a statement regarding the allegations on Thursday.

“Bruxy has now been put on leave while an external investigation is ongoing,” John said. “We take these allegations very seriously and are committed to a thorough and transparent process. We pray through this situation.
