John (Jack) Rudolph Erdody, 76


WILMINGTON – John (Jack) Rudolph Erdody, 76, of Wilmington, North Carolina, passed away on Monday, November 8, 2021 at New Hanover Regional Medical Center with his family by his side.

Jack was born May 2, 1945 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, son of the late Zoltan and Elsie Erdody, and raised in Roselle, NJ and Asheville, North Carolina.

Jack is survived by his wife of 53 years, Martha Ann Butler Erdody; sister, Jean Mayer and husband Ronald of Knoxville, TN; son, John Erdody and husband Frank Ruggiero of Madison, NJ; son, Todd Erdody and wife, Karen Webster and grandson, Kai Erdody of Bozeman, MT.

Jack graduated from North Carolina State University in 1967 with a degree in civil engineering and received an MBA from Rutgers University in 1971. He has had a long and successful career with Exxon and Esso Europe, this which enabled him and his family to live in New Jersey. , Venezuela and England. After their retirement, Jack and Martha moved to Wilmington, North Carolina in 2004.

He was an active and involved member of the Anglican All Saints Parish and served in various positions for the Anglican Province of America. He has also volunteered for the Landfall Foundation, Kenan Chapel, and the High Country Charitable Foundation in Banner Elk, North Carolina. Jack enjoyed working with wood, playing golf, and traveling for business and pleasure. Her generosity and strong work ethic will be sorely missed.

A memorial service will be held at All Saints Anglican Parish on Monday, December 6, 2021 at 11:00 a.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family is asking for memorials to be made at All Saints Anglican Parish, located at 2623 N. College Rd., Wilmington, NC 28401.
