Home Minister in Town – Star of Mysore

  • Regrets the presence of certain black sheep to tarnish the image of the Police
  • Passing Out Parade of the 45th Group of PSI (Civil) held at KPA

Mysore/Mysore: The fainting parade of the 45th group of trainee police sub-inspectors (civilians) of the Karnataka Police Academy (KPA) took place at KPA premises this morning.

Home Minister Araga Jnanendra, who was the chief guest, witnessed all the ceremonial formalities including honor guard, flag hoisting, parade and also presented trophies to the star candidates trained.

Due to the pandemic situation, the event was webcast live from KPA so that parents and loved ones of the contestants could watch the proud moment from the comfort of their homes instead of being physically present.

A total of 228 PSI passed out today and among them more than 20% (45) are women. Interestingly, many PSIs are dual graduates who have excelled in their own fields like mechanical and civil engineering, aeronautical engineering, biotechnology, sciences, arts and commerce, etc.

There are 91 engineering graduates and two MBA graduates. 58 candidates have already had experience in the service of various government departments. The trainees underwent training that included field and operations training.

In recent times, technology plays an important role, especially in detecting cyber and economic crimes. Trainee officers have been trained to adapt to new technology in resolving such cases.

Araga Jnanendra called on PSI to protect lives and property. “Most of you are double graduates and that’s a matter of pride. Help preserve the health of society and do not succumb to any political or financial pressure. Don’t lobby for plum assignments and be a role model in society,” he said.

Training his guns on the flaws in the department, the minister said there are certain black sheep at different levels of the police department who bring discredit to the entire police apparatus. “There are corrupt elements and they tarnish the image of the Department. Please stay away from them,” he said.

The Minister of the Interior advised PSI to refrain from getting involved in real estate affairs. “Don’t join the criminals and settle real estate transactions. If you lower yourself to that level, your image in the public will suffer and tomorrow there will be a situation where you will be publicly humiliated,” he warned.

P. Harishekaran, Additional Director General of Police (ADGP-Formation), Director of IG and KPA, Vipul Kumar, Deputy Director of KPA, Dr. Dharanidevi Malagatti and others were present.
