Gleason Named Cross Country USTFCCCA All-Academic

NEW ORLEANS, Louisiana – University of Memphis cross-country athlete payton gleason was announced as one of the Division I All-Academic winners by the US Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA) last week.

To qualify for All-Academic honors, individuals must have a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25 on a 4.0 scale and finish in the top 25 or 10% at NCAA regional championships or as a All-American at the NCAA Championships.

Gleason is majoring in physical education/teacher education and is also working toward a minor in accounting. His academic performance helped lift the men’s team to an overall grade of 3.645 GPA, giving them ninth place out of 150 qualifying programs.

Most recently, in cross country, Gleason set a new personal best for the 10k at the NCAA South Regional in November, earning him honors from all regions. He currently competes in distance events in the indoor track and field season.
